New sub committee formed 19th Jan 05. Still to meet and consider way forward. Opportunity from HCC Env (Chris Williams) Country Towns Initiative � may allocate monies to suitably argued Whitchurch Town Centre initiatives (e.g. Alleyway improvements/planting etc.)

19th Jan WTA meeting proposed Town Hall could be a meeting venue for proposed Community Support Officers and Wardens (e.g. with the public). Waiting thoughts/response from WTC.

Town Hall now being used (Tues) for BLWx 1 to 1 one-hour business advice clinics.

 

Newbury Building Soc has shown an interest in participating in Business led community activities.

 

Good attendance at April Testbourne Bus Club meeting. Next meeting Wed 8th June. Meeting needed to discuss way forward/ideas re Business Development (retail and commercial)

Productive meeting <JW/DV/RK/TC> with Keith Pauw HCC Traffic Mgmt Feb 09. Agreed (in principle) the monitoring methods/locations for the 7 am to 7pm <re> survey. KP has confirmed HGV survey will be conducted on/or by 30th April. <n.b. Actual survey dates are never disclosed>

 

 

Cost issues � to make and maintain � for wood based winning design. Following WTC April 4th meeting, alternatives now being investigated by B&DBC that would retain key elements of winning design but be acceptable to HCC Highways Mtc.

No �youth� specialist expertise within WTA. Thus support from HCC Youth Service being sought. This will be communicated to Cllr. Jackman who is trying to initiate youth projects and has a meeting of his own scheduled for 29th April.

 

Meantime, Newbury Building Soc has shown a willingness to support any initiatives.Whitchurch implementation of a Surrey �FLY� (For Local Youth) type project or �Connexions (Prince�s Trust Youth Charter�) might be possible..

Preliminary proposal put to WTCin March. This included suggestion to help with publication of �Eye�.

 

Comms sub group meeting re future collaboration on the publication/content for the �EYE� is planned for 26th April with Cllrs. Robbins & Abarthe present for WTC.

 

Comms media proposals presented to WTA 13th April (and approved) also to be presented to WTC (6th June?)

Constitution will make WTA publicly accountable and enable bids for funds not available to Local Authorities to be made.

 

The 1st joint meeting took place on31st March attended by WTA, New Ctty Hall and WTC representatives. Progress on model and form of constitution made � next meeting scheduled for 28th April
