Festival King & Queen Crowned
Whitchurch has a new Festival King, Queen, Prince, Princess and a whole host of attendants. The second Festival event again filled the Longmeadow Sports and Social Centre and was followed by a disco.
Would be royalty aged from 4 to 13 were asked by MC, Graham Burgess, to explain what they wanted to be and answers ranged from and rabbit through and aeroplane to a special needs midwife; most popular future occupation on the night was vet .
The judges, Mayor and Mayoress, Pete and Pauline Williams, with Noelle Shrubsall and Samantha Lee joined organiser, Anna Nason, in the very difficult task of selecting the senior royals.
Eventually Francesca Dickens was crowned Queen by the Mayoress and her brother Josh was crowned King by the Mayor. Yasmin Mears and Owen Ford-Neath were elected as Princess and Prince. All the other competitors joined in the ceremony and will be attending on the royal family when they next appear during the Carnival Procession on 5 July.
Pauline Forster will be outfitting the Queen.
