Title: Whitchurch Police Beat Report
Post by: Athelstan on October 12, 2007, 04:08:43 pm
I don't know if anyone here visits the Overton website, but I am quite impressed with the regular 'Beat Reports' provided by the local police (see link below). I have left a message on there for PC Baldwin to see if our local bobby would like to do the same on this site.

I think Athelstans idea is a good one.
It would give those surfing the web a real idea of whats what.
The Millennium Green committees share a local list email and one thing we found interesting maybe a couple of years ago now was the data arising from a study of the binge drinking. We do not attempt to stop it, we would rather they did at away from peoples houses. They used to throw their bottles all over but we put a sensible notice on one of the tables they use and provided a massive bin and they use it.

What did they drink one evening ?

Excellent news!

I sent an email to messers Judge and Dunlop. A bit late in the day I know, but as they are leafleting the town on a regular basis I asked them both to mention this site on their literature. No harm in getting some extra publicity - may get a few more visitors as a result.

Athelstan,
I think that your suggestion is a good one. I will discuss this with the member of our group responsible for publishing the leaflets.

Eric Dunlop

Athelstan (or is it son of Arthur - stan being the Hants equivalent of the scots Mac or irish O' and Athel is obviously a corruption of Arthur!),

Thanks for the idea. They do say there is no such thing as bad publicity but, given the quality of some of the information in the party political leaflets, an endorsement from them might not be exactly what the site is looking for!! ;D

Visitor numbers to the site are increasing year on year by ~200% (ie there were 3 times the number of vistors this October compared with last) and around ~10% month on month. It's not easy to get accurate figures because of the way some ISPs, particularly AOL, connect, so they are disounted in some stats, giving a low figure, whilst others inlcude them, which gives an inflated figure of true unique visitors. At the moment around 90 visitors per day go to one or more pages on the site.

The bulletin board is not inlcuded in the stats

Phil
