On 16 June some 22 participants aged from 6 to 60 gathered amid encircling gloom to participate in the 3rd Annual Family Fun Run. With 10 minutes to go before the start, the heavens opened and a heavy downpour ensued. Organisers, participants and the press initially sheltered under a tree but that didn't work for very long, so they withdrew to the primary school .

Almost on cue, at 11am, the rains stopped and, pausing only for a few photos, the race was off. The early stages alone footpaths was marked by deep puddles form the downpour but, emerging into the surrounding countryside the only problem was wet grass and the occasional large nettle.

the last push

The route was around the outside of the school then anticlockwise through The Hangings, round Bere Mill, back to the Green over Town Mill bridge and into the school playing fields. Water, biscuits, a certificate and warm congratulations greeted the participants who were led home, for the first time by Dom Clacy in a new record of 17' 40 ". Dom was closely followed by the rest of Team Clacy, Ben Ridley, who was the fastest under 16, with a time of just under 20 minutes and, eventually the rest.

A good, if slightly damp, time was had by all and over £150 was raised for the Whitchurch Youth Project.
