The Marriage Course
“Regular checkups help a car run smoothly and reduce the risk of breakdown. Sports professionals spend hours being coached and perfecting their techniques. The greatest achievements in life take practice, training and dedication. It’s the same with marriage. A strong, loving and lifelong relationship doesn’t happen by chance. It takes effort and dedication to keep the fun and romance alive. We can all learn how to make even the happiest marriage better.” explain Dan and Vicki Gleed who will host the Marriage Course, supported by All Hallows Church.
The Marriage Course has been running since 1996 and there are thousands of courses now running around the world. The course is for any couple, whether they have been together for one or sixty-one years and whether they feel they have a strong relationship or are struggling. Whilst it is based on Christian principles, it is designed for couples with or without a Christian faith. The 7 sessions aim to help participants:
- Understand each others’ needs
Communicate more effectively
- Grow closer through resolving conflict
- Heal the ways they have hurt each other
- Recognise how their upbringing affects their relationship
- Improve relationships with parents and in-laws
- Develop greater sexual intimacy
- Discover each other’s love language and much more
People who have formerly attended the course have said that it feels like a romantic date. Participants are served with a candlelit dessert, glass of wine and coffee or tea at tables for two. There are practical DVD talks and time for couples to talk on their own using given topics. Music is played so that conversations aren’t overheard and there is absolutely NO group work.
The timing & dates are: 7.30-9.45pm on 7 Monday evenings, from May 10 to June 28 (excluding bank holiday May 31). The venue will depend upon numbers. The cost per couple will depend upon venue and is expected to be between £60.00 and £75.00 for the 7 evenings. Call 893776 to book. Numbers are limited.
