Whitchurch Association

Saturday 15th October saw the inauguration of the Whitchurch Association with the adoption of its constitution by nearly 40 Whitchurch residents at the Methodist Church.

This "start" was in fact the culmination of a lot of hard work by a team working to bring together the town's Action Groups and the need to manage the town's new Community Centre. The idea of bring them together was that of Gill Nethercott as both have the same aim - to improve the environment in Whitchurch. So whilst the Action Groups continued their work, a Constitution Team, led by Harriet Titcomb, worked on the Association's new constitution that would allow all the improvement activities in Whitchurch to be co-ordinated and to take advantage of the activities of other groups such as Whitchurch Town Council and funding opportunities not otherwise accessible.

The constitution had to allow the Association the freedom to work to improve the environment and manage assets, such as the new Community Centre, but had to meet the requirements of the Charity Commissioners in order to achieve charitable status. Charitable status is essential if the Association is to attract funding for its initiatives from all available sources.

Below is the list of honorary officers and the committee as up dated at the AGM held on 20 January 2007.

The minutes of meetings, including the inaugural one and other information, the Association's constitution and other Association news will appear here, as soon as it is available.

Details of how to be closely linked to and to book the Community Centre are on its own website.
