Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal

In 2008 the Royal British Legion Whitchurch Branch contributed £3,654.00 to the grand total of the £101.2m spent on the welfare and services of those service men/women and families in need. Official Poppy Appeal organiser for Whitchurch, Christine Lynn, commends the admirable amount raised last year, but believes that with additional help the collection total could be significantly greater.

Despite the hard work of a small band of volunteers additional help would be very much appreciated. Contact Christine Lynn on 893072 for details.

Parish Hall Committee

The Parish Hall is in need of support as it tries to effect the repairs that are currently required to reopen this valuable Town resource. The Committee needs a active members, and as much support as it can get.

Please contact Nick Reynolds on 892325.

Whitchurch Youth Project

The Whitchurch Youth Project is always keen to encourage adults in Whitchurch to support its activities in any way they can, as the more people who are involved, the more can be done for our young people and the wider the load is spread.

Anyone over the age of 18 can be a volunteer, so long as they can show that they are a responsible person who would like the opportunity of working with young people. The recruitment process is simple and designed to ensure that volunteers meet the high standards of care that Whitchurchs young people deserve.

You dont need to be available every week. If you could help, even if its only just one evening every month or so, so much more could be done for our communitys young people.

Please contact Keith Watts on 896969 or Denyse Coles on 893010.

Carers Together Monthly Sessions

Carers Together is a County wide Charity offering support and information to ALL Informal, or unpaid carers in the County.
In partnership with the Basingstoke Alzheimer’s Society the charity runs a monthly support group - or carers café - for all carers - not just those looking after someone with Alzheimer’s Disease. We meet on the fourth Wednesday of each month from 12.30-2.30 at the Cottage next to the Methodist church.
We provide a light home made lunch - normally soup and rolls. Any carer is welcome to pop in and meet everyone - they can bring the person they care for if they would like to or they can come on their own. They don’t need to book - can just turn up. They can ring either Jane Halls on 01256 353290 or Maggie on 01256 357150 for more details.

Music Hall Artists Required

Sparklers is planning its next musical which will be staged in the Spring. Volunteers, actors and singers, are required to take part. Funds raised will go to the Leukaemia Ward at Southampton General Hospital in support of one of the group's most dearly loved cast members.
Contact Sallye on 892196.
